It’s so easy to blame circumstances – but blaming our situation can obscure the real reason we fail to practice on a regular basis!
If you want to build up your motivation to practice at home regularly several times a week (with or without additional classes), then this book is ideal.
However if you practice at classes only, then that’s fine. Just read the day’s guidance notes and try to incorporate them into your class.
So why bother to do yoga regularly?
We hold so much stress in our bodies. This isn’t just stress from the previous 24 hours but it’s also stress that has accumulated over time.
Yoga is a great way to get rid of it!
If we haven’t been doing regular yoga, we’ve been allowing it to build up in our bodies, causing stiffness and aches and pains.
We might even have stiffnesses that we don’t even know are there, until we do yoga and notice that certain parts of our bodies are stiffer than others.
Think of yoga as a psychic cleanse - ridding your body and soul of all that accumulated discomfort and stress.
Sound good doesn’t it!
So why don’t we practice more regularly?
There are many reasons. We might feel that we are too busy. We might forget the many benefits of doing yoga. Forgetting those can take us way off track.
This book has been written to get you back on track and keep you there!
Later in the book we’ll explore the wonderful benefits of yoga. There are actually quite a few!
Revisiting the benefits on a regular basis is a great way of keeping motivated and you will be encouraged to do this throughout the 10 days.
This 10 day program doesn’t require you to practice yoga every single day. You actually get 3 days off – days 4 and 5 and again on day 7.
This is for two reasons. Firstly it will give your body and mind a chance to rest and recuperate.
Secondly it will emulate a realistic yoga schedule for a lot of people. Many of us don’t actually want to do yoga on a daily basis and feel that a regular three or four days a week is enough.
You can set the amount of yoga that you want to accomplish when you finish the 10 days and start out on your own.
You can choose to complete this program in more than 10 days, having more rest days in between.
That’s absolutely fine. The main thing, is to start practicing regularly to make yoga a habit. (A very healthy habit!)
Your eventual aim may be for practicing 3 days a week, 4 days a week, or even 6 days a week. Your mind is the only thing that can hold you back, but after this 10 day course, believe me, you won’t let it!
